"L" is for Lacking

Other reviewers have compared this one to "H." They're right. This is an "on the road with the bad guys" adventure. No real mystery here, and other than a few interesting scenes, not much worthy of note.
The supporting cast that has been weaved through the other novels is noticably absent from this book. Maybe they were working on other projects. The book suffers from this, mainly because the replacement players are not nearly as compelling or, frankly, fun.
By the time Kinsey ends up in Kentucky, you will find yourself saying "Who cares? Get back to Santa Teresa."
All in all, it was a disappointing read, annoying so because my prior experience with these books means that you cannot skip the bad ones.

L is for Lovin' It!

This is another good story in the line of alphabet mysteries by Sue Grafton. Her few "detours" from great writing in previous "letters" seem to have been a minor bump in the road and she now returns to a good plot and strong characters.

I have to admit that one of my favorite characters in this series is Henry Pitt, Kinsey Millhone's landlord and friend. I enjoyed the Henry who wrote crossword puzzles and tried them out on Kinsey before he sent them in for publication. I enjoyed the Henry who always had something baking in his kitchen. And many times I have wondered why some sexy senior citizen hasn't snagged this wonderful catch of a man!

This story gives us a little more insight into Henry than we've seen in the past. Henry convinces Kinsey to help a friend of his on a simple matter - she needs to show that Henry's friend served in the military during World War II so he can be buried as a veteran. Such a simple request and it should have a simple solution, but as we've seen with Kinsey in the past, nothing is an easy task, so the plot thickens...

The family of the deceased is too busy fighting among themselves to be much help to Kinsey. Then an old friend shows up and gets attacked at the dead guy's apartment. Once again we're on a race to see what's around the next corner for Kinsey and to find out why the government has no record of this veteran serving his country.

There's a little bit of mystery, but more suspense in this book. And more laughs than we've seen in the past with Grafton's other books. I'd recommend this easy read to anyone wanting a few hours of enjoyment as it's definitely one of Sue Grafton's better books in this series. I only hope she will continue with this quality and not hit any more bumps that throw her off to only mediocre writing!

"L" is for Look for another

Of the Sue Grafton's series, this one didn't have the same impact as her earlier books. I was disappointed! The plot developed slowly, and at times reminded me of a bad 'made for T.V. movie'and the characters (other than the familiar aquaintances) lacked "character". After I began reading "L", over a year ago, I put the book down and didn't have the desire to read it until recently. I enjoyed her first books and hope that "M" is a better read.

Since the spring of 2003, Joseph Carter has been engaged in developing a new and unusual activity; hunting with a tamed mink. Great Overview of Mobile Marketing for Beginners/Experts Alike

While I myself am not directly involved in the marketing or media industry, I came across this book through a friend and decided to give it a look. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it wasn't just a textbook written for "insiders" already in the mobile field. Instead, it provides a very engaging overview of mobile-based marketing concepts (even for the layman) and how they are radically transforming the business landscape as we know it. The author's words ring with passion as he talks about the history of the field, the current ways companies are leveraging mobility to promote their products, and the reality that this whole exciting field is still essentially still in its infancy.

As somebody who works regularly with business leaders, many of whom still seem fairly out-of-touch with the current state of technology, I think this book should be required reading -- since it will open up whole new doors, ideas, and dimensions for how to reach out to the billions of customers who swear by their cell phones. Nice work, Mr. Hasen!

A Must Read For Anyone Remotely Interested In Mobile Marketing

I've had the pleasure of interviewing Jeff about his book on my mobile marketing talk show and he is every bit as amazing in person as he is in the book.

Anyone...and I mean anyone that speaks the words "mobile marketing" should read this book. That means if you're an entrepreneur, a small agency owner, a consultant, a large agency, a brand marketer, client side, CMO, CEO, you name it...this is the book you should read on mobile marketing. There are a few others out there you should read too but not many dive into the logic and thinking behind the initiatives executed in this book.

It's a great read for beginners to mobile marketing and a must read for anyone looking to execute a mobile initiative. A lot of people get caught up in the hype and innovation of mobile but Jeff tells it how it is. He talks about the strategies that have worked while addressing the innovation. He show you proved campaigns from big brands as well small business like a car dealership.

Mobile is also not going to save your business. Jeff is very much a realistic marketer, business person and human being. No BS, no hype, he breaks down the mobile space very well so that anyone can understand it.

I highly recommend this book. Jeff is a great writer and one of the most knowledgeable people in the mobile space both of which are actively displayed in this book.

I've had the pleasure to interview some of the top mobile marketers in the industry on my show and I CONSTANTLY quote Jeff's book, his work, his insights and more. I very much see the space the way he does which makes it easy to agree with him but he backs everything up.

If you're in marketing it's a must read for sure.

The meat and potatoes approach

Jeff's meat and potatoes approach to sell more (insert product or service here) is refreshing. He is a realist and an educator. The most invaluable chapter is the "Real Questions Marketers Must Ask". This chapter alone can save you time and money before you even consider mobile initiatives.

There is a tremendous amount of hype with mobile and it is finally nice to read about real companies using basic mobile tactics that deliver real business results. Jeff reminds us that mobile is not the "be all, end all". He encourages marketers to define its place in their overall marketing strategy. Easy read.
