written in German from the perspective of "the little man" during Hitler's terror years. Hans Fallada did a good job! Informative for those who were born to parents who lived through WWII.

I have just read about 30% and are looking forward to read more about the Germans in Berlin and their brave fight against the Nazi regime. I did not know much about the resistance before reading this book

this is a book that everybody should read. it does not make you feel happy, but gives you an insight in everyday life of the struggling german people before ww2. it contains couragious actions and poor betraying behaviour and can make you think about your own choices in life
