This is the best addition to this series yet! I'm not usually into medical play, but the scenes in this book are smoking hot. I also like this small shifts in the dynamic between Connor and Damion as Connor realizes he does have some power in this relationship. I'm also intrigued by the hints about Connor's past, and can't wait to read more.

Sadism is not sexual dominance!

The author oversteps the lines of an alpha dominant master's demonstration of ownership of his slave, as he revels in the denial of food to a street urchin. The book is neither well-written nor sexually-stimulating. There is only a remote storyline and the characters are plastic and radically under-developed. The books are an obviating of this man's unworthiness to be deemed an author. Perhaps he might reconsider his line of work.

Basically ECG's for Dummies

My Dental office where I work has this book. I just flipped some pages through it and loved how it walked you through it. But, what caught my attention was the very back of the book where it had dozens of rythmn's for you to interpret on your own. I cannot tell how how many times I have seen these rythmns on ACLS tests, tests for employment (I work Emergency Room too) and for continuing education through the Hospital's Education and Development.

I'm getting one to keep as a refresher and now that both daughters have graduated Nursing school this will make it easier for them. A very understandable book.

A useful, but incomplete and biased view of the future

First, before getting into any criticism, this book does a good job of covering the potential inherent in the shifts to automated vehicles and new vehicle propulsion systems. Mr. Neckermann identifies a large range of possible directions that may impact the way we drive.

The problem with the book is that it does not look particularly closely at the challenges inherent in this transformation. The author provides a biased view, going so far as to suggest that "automotive manufacturing is becoming as redundant as the horseshoe maker". The book includes long sections running through hosts of initiatives, prototypes, and start-ups, but the fact is that technology is the least concern in this transformation. We have had electric, hydrogen, and automated driving technologies for decades.

The challenge is how to deploy these technologies in a chaotic, unpredictable environment dominated by human beings. Comparisons with air travel are worse than useless; they are misleading. Cars do not operate in controlled spaces occupied by perhaps a dozen other craft, each operated by pairs of highly trained pilots, and maintained continuously by professional ground crews. Road traffic is an intensely human, social environment where the rules of the road often matter less than anticipating what other road users may do based on experience (see Traffic for an excellent analysis). Given that the average age of cars in use is more than 11 years, software-driven vehicles will have to co-exist for decades with hundreds of millions of human-driven machines and they will still have to protect occupants (and other road users) in the event of a collision. Automated cars will have to do massively better than Apple computers or Microsoft operating systems because they cannot be allowed to confuse drivers, freeze up, or become corrupted when lives are at stake, and they'll have to operate correctly for 10-20 years, not 2-3.

I agree that we will one day reach zero emissions, dramatically reduce accidents, and likely see big changes in how vehicles are owned and used, but this is at least a 50, not a five, year transition and no one today can really predict with much confidence how this shift will ultimately play out.

He explains that the gains to be made for all of us as the world moves toward robotically operated vehicles are multifold. We can expect the elimination of car accidents - and the horrible human and economic costs associated with them. Robotic cars will also eliminate emissions that choke our cities - since they will be highly-efficient, battery-operated cars. Finally, since they will be very rapidly summonable, there will be little need for the vast majority of consumers to bear the cost and hassle of automobile ownership. Nothing to write home to Mom about

I have to confess that I was supposed to review Tiana Warner's novel, her first, some time ago. However, the book seemed to find its way to the bottom of my to-be-read list, so I didn't get around to it until recently. Ms. Warner, the author, is a very recent graduate of the University of British Columbia. Following the time-honored if not hoary dictum of "write what you know," Jacob Badgley, the title character, is also Canadian, and when the events of the novel start, he is waiting to take finals for his first year at school.

After a prologue that only makes sense once one reads the whole book, we start with Jacob's experiences during an end-of-session party at a nameless Canadian college. Jacob has a bit too much fun, and ends up in an abandoned house with an unusual sphere in his hands. The sphere sucks him through space and deposits him on the planet Zielararde, where he is held as a figurehead / mascot. Zielaarde is having an unusual problem, namely "Loss of Gravity," and Jacob's public presence is intended to insure that the Government has things well in hand. It's probably not too much of a spoiler to suggest that the Government in fact does not have things in hand. The novel is then the story of how Jacob tries to get back to Earth while not running afoul of his handlers.

I found Infinite Knowledge an unusual book. The "loss of gravity" problem bears more than a passing resemblance to our global warming issue. I do have to say that the Zielaardians are not quite stereotypical aliens, although the alien leader could come straight out of Central Casting. Jacob, the title character, is fairly-well realized, as is Sophie, the other main human in the book.

Overall, I found the book competently written, but flat. For most of the book, it felt like I was reading something I'd read a dozen times before, a basic alien abduction tale. The discovery of how humans get home was a bit of a surprise, but there was no scientific support behind it. In fact, the introduction of that way home contradicted some of the earlier themes and ideas of the book. The Infinite Knowledge of J. T. Badgley was okay, but nothing to write home to Mom about.

My niece gives it a 9.5!

What do you get a 12 year old advanced and eclectic reader for her birthday? She participates in the Rebecca Caudill reading contest and has read all the standard reads from H. Potter to Lightning Thief to Hunger Games. Her favorite pastime is reading, and finding a "new book" was a challenge.

I heard about J.T. Bagley on an author's forum and chatted w/the author, Tiana Warner. I wanted to make sure that the material would be appropriate and not too difficult in vocab, etc.

My niece loved the book. I asked her on a scale of 1 to 10, how would she rate it... 9.5!

I asked her what her favorite part was and she immediately replied, "The mystery and suspense. I wanted to see what happened." She was very surprised by the ending and how the people get back to earth.
